Bobbie Ann Mason
Bobbie Ann Mason was born in 1941, and was raised on a farm near Mayfield, Kentucky. She was educated at the University of Kentucky and the State University of New York at Binghamton, and holds a Phd from the University of Kentucky. She is the author of two books of non-fiction, Nabokov’s Garden and The Girl Sleuth and her short stories have appeared in the Atlantic, The New Yorker, the New American Review, and the Virginia Quarterly Review. ‘Still Life with Watermelon’ is among the stories in her first collection, Shiloh and Other Stories (Chatto and Windus, 1983).
