Kamila Shamsie
Kamila Shamsie was born in Karachi and currently lives in London. She is the author of five novels, including Burnt Shadows (Bloomsbury/Picador), which was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2009. Her first novel, In the City by the Sea (Granta Books), published in 1998, was shortlisted for the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in the UK, and in 1999 she received the Prime Minister’s Award for Literature in Pakistan. In 2000 she was selected as one of Orange’s 21 Writers of the 21st century. Her novels, Kartography (Bloomsbury) and Broken Verses (Bloomsbury) have both won the Patras Bukhari Award from the Academy of Letters in Pakistan.
