Michael Collins
Michael Collins is a writer, photographer and curator.
Born in London in 1961, he has worked as a television producer and journalist, and written for various publications including the Observer, Guardian, Independent, TLS, Sunday Telegraph, New Statesman and Sunday Times. His book The Likes Of Us: A Biography of the White Working Class was published by Granta in July 2004, and won the George Orwell Book Prize. A documentary based on the book, written and presented by the author, was broadcast by Channel Four in July 2005. His photographs of the English Channel appeared in Granta 76 and his celebrity pictures, collected under the title ‘I’ve Always Been a Fan’, were published in Granta 79.
