Seamus Murphy

Seamus Murphy was born in England in 1959 and raised in Dublin, Ireland. He worked in film before turning to photojournalism in 1990. Since then he has received six World Press Photo awards and won widespread acclaim for his work in Afghanistan and the Middle East, including a World Understanding Award in 2005.

His latest book, A Darkness Visible, has just been published by Saqi Books. An exhibition of photographs from Afghanistan (1994-2007) is at the Asia House Gallery, 63 New Cavendish Street, London W1G 7LP, July 1 to September 13 2008.
