William T. Vollmann

William T. Vollmann lives in Sacramento, California. He travelled to Afghanistan in 1982; ‘An Afghanistan Picture Show’ (Granta 40) is drawn from a memoir of that journey and was published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in 1991. His other books include Rising Up, Rising Down, Seven Dreams: A Book of North American Landscapes, Europe Central (for which he won the National Book Award), Butterfly Stories and most recently Kissing the Mask.
