Nice to read your work again Eduardo. I share a lot of your frustration and admiration for Guatemala. I also lived abroad for a long time and came back with a stupid idea; the idea was to help and change this country, but what I have learned through the years since I came back (Left when I was 18 to Norway) is that guatemalan society is not a typical society at all. I am mostly certain that we do not love democracy, you can constantly hear people longing for the "old days" the militarized days of the country. Death penalty, terrible punishment to the "commies" and the indigenous where they are suppose to be. Human rights are for first world countries and well, a lot of bull from the old, sad and pathetic extreme right. Greetings Eduardo, I am also leaving the country soon, I should have done it long before, but wrongly I thought that things could be different. From a sad and frustrated fellow guatemalan.
