An interesting point, but I think that technology within literature should not be considered a limitation as such. Look at Gary Shteyngart's Super Sad True Love Story.
That book seemed to point to the inhumanity which was caused by technology, yet it also demonstrated the inability of escaping that humanity. I don't want to spoil the book for anyone that hasn't read it, but I think that technology poses a great opportunity for writers to explore the new space in which people exist in light of the advent of new technology.
