The trouble is that he tries a little too hard to imitate the master -- a clearly improbable task. I also liked the silky-smooth English of the translator and I congratulate her especially because this must have been a difficult piece to translate.

The scene of standing between the two blind men reminds me of a Borgesian image: "a candle placed between facing mirrors." But what on earth do I mean by Borgesian?
