  1. Le souffle des pensées.

    Timidement,
    comme un rêve
    matinal qui
    chante dans le
    ciel en donnant
    l'harmonie
    de la fugitive
    neige....

    Francesco Sinibaldi

  2. In a spare moment....

    I retain that
    everything shines
    while an eminent
    sadness invents
    an idea, so
    nostalgic and
    tender like
    a luminous care....

  4. Este canto perpetuo.

    Este canto
    perpetuo viene
    en el sitio
    donde vive
    la estrella de
    las rimas benditas,
    donde muere
    la noche regalando
    el amor.

    Francesco Sinibaldi

  5. And remember folks, our summer issue of 2115 will be "The P word";Is patriarchy entwined with prick?

  6. This film is fantastic!

  7. Hannah - i love this. I kept thinking of the old house in Hagerstown - thanks for writing it!

  8. Great cover! Your last comment is too generous to be true though.

  9. Pour la colline.

    Dans les
    coeurs d'un
    chant, dans les
    souffles du pâle
    soleil, dans le
    triste sourire
    d'une feuille
    désolée: je sens
    le matin, la
    claire lumière
    de l'éternité.

    Francesco Sinibaldi

  10. Los ojos benditos del canto.

    Ésta es una
    dulce canción
    que viene
    silente donde
    el soplo del
    mar reposa
    infinito.

    Francesco Sinibaldi

  11. Intriguing.

  12. The wind blowing in the sun.

    In the chirping
    of a delicate
    bird there's a
    light that always
    shines near
    the sound of
    a quietness, it's
    the tender relief
    now recalling
    the youth.

    Francesco Sinibaldi

  13. This white girl poet from Motown approves and will cut you if you dis Detroit which always for me includes Motown. I went to high school(Cass Technical which is under the wrecking ball as we speak) with Diana Ross though we did not know each other Great photo too!

  14. You won't find me talking wrong about Motown! the soundtrack of my youth ... you've capture it here and make it sing all over again.

  15. A painful situation for a mother and son, who had known better times. They have not adjusted to the new way of life in a poorer neighborhood.

Jimmy found solace in the Animal Orphanage on Sundays to drown out the woes of "Real Life". His mum drownded hers in the use of liquor instead, at the thought of doing her own chores and using her beauty and body to get by.

The Professor stated that trouble began when Sebastian, the gorilla got ill. At Sebastian's death,it seemed as though, the Professor "took over" or possessed the gorilla's body. By being the "gorilla", does he hope to change the situation in the country? I would definitely love to read more of this story.

  16. In a crisis situation, individuals become bonded as in a marriage, and team up to face life in that new role.

In the case of the siblings, they have been technically "married" to the situation in the reverse role that they have to play.

  17. It is interesting to know that someone is taking a step in helping women to promote their work.

  18. Mothers protect their children closely from all that is "outdoors," whether it is from climatical conditions or any harm in general.

  19. A good review of history.

  20. Thank you for this, Granta. It's so good to have these writers on our radar again-- particularly Jessica Soffer whose story was so affecting to so many people I know. Great news about the novel. If anyone knows anything else about it please post here.

My heartiest congratulations to all the New Voices!

  21. Very inspiring.

I intuitively agree with Jessica's advice of maintaining a balance between keeping one's writing close to one's chest and sharing it with others...but I am sure its easier said than done. When the going is good sharing it and discussing it can be addictive and when in other cases (in most cases) it is not good enough to be shared. I guess it is hard to find a balance.

I also see the merit in reading out your writing to yourself. You can instantly spot things when they go wrong - bad sentence construction, digression, too many sentences stand out conspicuously. But the trap here is that what seems interesting when reading out loud might seem mundane when reading in the mind because when reading loud one can emote and modulate one's voice. I tried doing that and I started to like everything I read!

  22. Mensaje de amor.

    El alma, el
    canto perpetuo
    del sol
    desolado, la
    rima, el dolor,
    la noche
    silente....

    Francesco Sinibaldi

  23. Le son préféré.

    La recherche
    du bonheur
    est comme le
    soleil qui
    chante l'harmonie
    des feuilles
    désolées.

    Francesco Sinibaldi

  24. A canticle and the romance.
    ( other version )

    When the sunshine
    returns in the
    light of a gentle
    delight, remember
    the sound of a
    luminous candle,
    discover the silence
    in the care of a
    beautiful darkness
    and so, in the sky,
    that delicate dream
    will touch your
    profile....

    Francesco Sinibaldi

  25. Great interview!!
P.S. - there's a spelling error where he talks about beauty "emotiton"
