Josh Weil has just sold his novella collection, The New Valley, to Grove/Atlantic. The book is scheduled for publication in Spring 2009. His short story, ‘The Tree Thieves’, was published in Granta 99.

Hugh Raffles’ report on gambling and insects in China, ‘Cricket Fighting’, appeared in Granta 98 and has now been selected for inclusion in The Best American Essays 2008. This year’s guest editor is The New Yorker’s Adam Gopnik.
