Granta goes to the movies
To celebrate the 61st Cannes Film Festival, Granta.com is revisiting some of its favourite writing on film.
In Granta 86, the film issue, Thomas Keneally discussed how he came to write Schindler’s List, Gaby Wood ventured into Lana Turner’s bedroom, Adam Mars-Jones made the case for silence in the movies and Atom Egoyan reflected on the peculiar career of a fellow director.
In ‘Now a Major Motion Picture’, from Granta 98, Todd McEwen argued that the only way to preserve literature is to ‘make a movie of it’, and in Granta 94 he unravelled ‘Cary Grant’s Suit’.
